Welcome back to Digital Marketing by Gina! My name is Gina Wicentowich and Im a digital marketer thats worked as a consultant, for agencies, for private companies and Im here to help you on your digital marketing journey in 2021.

If youre new here the goal of this channel to inspire and empower those of you just starting digital marketing and trying to get your foot in the door.

After a previous video I did about how to make a digital marketing portfolio a lot of you gave me feedback that you wanted to know - how?! Exactly what are the steps to make a digital marketing portfolio especially if you want to apply for a job.

Thats another question Ive been receiving from a lot of you.

So lets boil this really down and make it simple.

If you cannot get that dream digital marketing job that are you trying to get lets get you a powerful digital marketing portfolio site to impress and wow those future employers.

Today Ill be walking you through a tutorial on how to make a portfolio website to get a digital marketing job.

I also wanted to give a shoutout to Wix Thank you to Wix for sponsoring this video Im going to give a very thorough tutorial of how I made a portfolio website using Wix.

Now I know you want to get into the nitty gritty and see the tutorial but before we get into that I wanted to mention a couple things The first thing you need to do before you start building your portfolio website you need to gather 3 digital marketing jobs youre interested in applying for.

The reason is you need to be able to understand patterns of those jobs.

Are there things all 3 postings are asking for? In terms of skillsets, in terms of experience.

That way we know to include that on your portfolio website.

Also, remember I have mentioned before that digital marketing jobs can be different depending on the company and what theyre looking for.

One digital marketing job could be very creative focus on graphic design focus on creation of ads, billboards things of that nature.

And another could be really technical it could be looking into front-end coding Google Analytics and a lot more of those analytical skillsets.

So you really want to understand what is the goal of this portfolio site? What are the things I want to highlight so I can attract the hiring manager and get an interview for these jobs.

The second thing is once you have those jobs and youre taking a look at the patterns across what skillsets are they asking for experience, relevance, etc then you need to start writing a bit of content.

Now this is an important step before you get into the website build because it will save you time.

You need to think of how you want to present yourself on a portfolio website.

What are the strengths you want to highlight? What are the impact statements you could supply? And talk about - I did X at this company this was the result; this was what I learned from that experience Those will be really powerful in speaking to your portfolio website because we dont want it to have filler.

We dont want it to feel generic.

We want a really strong website that showcases you and tells your story of why you deserve those jobs.

Now without further ado, lets get right into it.

As I mentioned in the tutorial you can keep this as a one page website with just a homepage to really simplify.

Especially if you feel like you dont have enough work experience that you would just be adding filler in to add extra pages - we dont want to do that.

But if you have things that you want to link to to really detail the story of this project that could be a school project, that could be a site you built by yourself, it does not need to be a full-time, permanent job that you had.

Anything that taught you those digital marketing skills mention them and talk about them.

So having a three-page website that includes a section for Portfolio and About will allow you to go into more detail.

So thoughtfully think of what are those patterns across these job postings Ive gathered? What are my strengths? And then what are the things I want to highlight based on that.

Now if you are ready to hit the ground running and build that portfolio website to get that digital marketing job youve been eyeing just click the link in my description.
