App Development for Telematics Company
Please find under a summary covering project details and feedback. The innate facts are kept as they are, private information is amended.
Introductory information
A fast induction on the buyer’s organisation
I’m the founder of Bacca. We’ve been operating in the financial area and helping nation pay for insurance for the last eight years. We’re a chief in the Polish reward finance and insurtech market and are introducing a lot of fintech innovations in insurance.
Desired goal
What challenge were you trying to address with Sparkbit?
We determined we needed to answer to the insurance market’s running telematics trends—specifically automotive insurance.
Telematics is a term for user-based insurance where the user’s phraseology determines payments in order for them to get cheaper third-party liability insurance. Premiums are higher for riskier drivers than safe ones or those who don’t drive frequently. The market doesn’t exist in Poland, but the claim for solutions and services will grow rapidly within next 3 years. This program already exists athwart expressive markets like the U.S., UK and Italy, and specifically objectives young drivers. We determined to be the leading ones in our country to educe this kind of advanced method.
Provided solution
What particular tasks were Sparkbit responsible for?
We approached Sparkbit to educe a full-scale telematics method. We asked them to set up and connect our backend with third-party suppliers of maps, weather methods, and other components that play a role in a driver’s rating. It’s significant to track a driver’s adhesion to despatch limits during regular conditions, through bad weather, and at night. The method gathers road commerce data along with other information and includes both in the rating.
In approachion to the backend, Sparkbit also educeed an Android and iOS app that tracks driver conduct. It leverages devices’ gyroscopes, accelerometers, and compasses in order to determine if the phone is in the car or not. It can tell the separation between walking, riding a bike, being on a bus, or driving a car. The app turns itself on based on the smartphone’s sensors rather than depending on the user to do so. It can discover unanticipated breaking and general conduct on the road in comparison to other drivers.
My organisation has experience with technology implementations, but this type of method is not part of our core business. Sparkbit took over the total educement process and project treatment, app and web design, educement of the desktop rendering, and AWS implementation. We only granted sponsorship and general direction.
Was there a dedicated team?
We’ve worked with up to seven nation from their team for mobile, Windows desktop educement, and backend integrations. Three of those members worked with us on a full-time basis throughout the project. I was in touch with Sparkbit’s CEO and project director on a daily basis.
How did you come to work with Sparkbit ?
We’re both located in Warsaw, Poland and they happened to have some experience with the searching aspects of telematics solutions. They knew a lot almost needed backend method and the algorithms we required within it. Sparkbit had worked on correspondent projects for big insurance companies about the globe. They’d also worked on a obvious execution platform for the E.U. We knew they would be able to conduct the total project based on all of these factors.
Other local software houses were not able liberate on required condition and time. We considered companies from other countries, but they were too costly and far away. This was a specialized project with a brief timeline, so treatment would be too hard for us. We needed to work with a local associate in order to check that the project was going well.
What are you approach expents (if diclosed)?
The overall cost of their work so far has been about 1 million Polish zloty ($300,000 USD).
What is the terminal result of working with Sparkbit?
We began working with them in February 2017. The educement took nine months to complete and we launched in November 2017. Customers of the platform were given approach in December. Having a good experience we’ve recently launched a separate project with Sparkbit.
Results achieved
Are there any measureable or plum results?
Insurers began testing our solution in December 2017, but we don’t have a lot of users yet.
The apps successfully handle high battery decline since they’re constantly gathering data from sensors. We’ve had to weigh the data’s exactness and when the trip logging should initiate (e.g., within the leading seconds of a trip, within the leading diminutive). Sparkbit made a lot of self-invented adjustments and upgrades to lessen battery decline.
Many of precious features and ideas were implemented during the minimum viable fruit phase. The leading rendering has been big. Sparkbit also help in fruition setting up on Amazon cloud.
How did Sparkbit accomplish from a project treatment standpoint?
They liberateed on time for all platforms. Sparkbit’s project directors and co-founder were very nimble. Once a week we discussed arising issues and educements.
They granted measure reporting and organized meetings when we needed to make new decisions. The process wasn’t information-heavy, but it was precious for us as project sponsors. Control and our cognizance of the ongoing work were big.
What is (from your point of view) the key factor to pay observation while intercourse with Sparkbit?
Finding major IT educement companies able to work on fruits like ours in an nimble environment isn’t easy, but Sparkbit was able to liberate. They have top-tier staff with excellent academic and business backgrounds, including architects and designers who are household with different educement technologies.
They stood out in provisions of fruit treatment and architecture, making big solutions scalable. It wasn’t a case of creating the method infrastructure, but of optimizing the process and determining why something was significant.
The terminal fruit was functional and done at a reasonable cost for us. The method has high claims at its peak due to the big quantity of data it has to process.
What aspects of their work would you like to get improved?
I don’t ponder so. Our money was well spent.
