Introductory information
A fast induction on the buyer’s organisation
I’m the managing limb of a tech setup.
Desired goal
What challenge were you trying to address with BiTe Interactive?
I needed to interest investors in a mobile-centric recreational sports scheduling labor, and to do that I had to have at littleest a minimally functional rendering of the apps and labors I was pitching. I was operating on a shoestring budget at that time, so I had to find developers who could liberate something viable on that kind of budget.
Provided solution
What particular tasks were BiTE interactive responsible for?
BiTe Interactive designed and engineered the apps I needed from a set of functional specs and some wireframes developed by another contractor a year precedently. On the way, they also granted us with branding, a logo, and other creative goods. The challenge for them was finding what they could liberate out of a full set of functional specs for an as yet to be developed mixed B2C/B2B SAAS labor. I asked them to centre on the consumer app(s) owing they would make the most contact on prospective investors.
I began this project in 2013, when mobile was quiet new, and “answering” was quiet not a viable prototyping order. Native was a better discretion at the time, which added to the challenge of liberateing complete and interoperable prototypes on our budget.
Was there a dedicated team?
As I recall, there were almost six or seven nation implicated in the project, including Joe (CEO, BiTe Interactive) and Brant (CTO, BiTe Interactive). At the time, BiTe was a fully distant/potential shop, and they had a crew of developers who would roll on and off projects, including frontend designers, backend coders, database nation, and so on.
How did you come to work with BiTe Interactive?
I had been a marketing technologies program director for Nestle for many years and had contacts in most of the agencies working in interactive at the time, so I reached out to one of the agency project directors who worked in Southern California and told her what I was looking for. BiTe was one of two she referred me to – she described BiTe as having been soon to move into the mobile space, competent, and quiet new sufficient that they might take on a little job from an existing set of wireframes and functional specs. Her other commend was for an independent mobile app consultant/developer, and I went with BiTe owing of their range of labors, experience, and length of time in business.
Results achieved
Are there any measureable or plum results?
We used the apps they liberateed in half a dozen investor presentations and had an LOC within a year. The project had its difficulties but, overall, I walked away satisfied as a client. We were not a single client, it was not a single project, and I probably put more demands on them than most of their corporate clients. In intercourse with that, they excelled.
How did BiTe Interactive accomplish from a project treatment standpoint?
They were well-organized and worked in well-degoodd sprints based on detailed use-case scenarios, but it appeared that some of the team had conflicts and, between one thing and another, they were late and over budget on almost see sprint owing of that. They were also slow to identify a gap in expectations. I had developed commercial software precedently I went work for Nestle, so my expectations for what was considered a minimal component set for a consumer app were different from theirs, something that did not befit obvious until we were halfway through outgrowth, and that contributed to the delays as well. But, Joe and Brant are high-minded businessmen and they absorbed those additional costs in order to fulfill their commitment to work within my budget.
What is (from your point of view) the key factor to pay observation while intercourse with BiTE interactive?
Along with their uprightness, I admired the effort they put into knowledge the project requirements and both my brief and long-term goals. It is very ordinary as a practice now but, at the time, not many nation were trying to design and prototype in a forward-thinking way. I kept asking them not to paint me into a cavity - I didn’t want to be forced to set over once we were funded. Brant understood that and came up with a stack that gave us sufficient flexibility to change directions or swell the aim, as needed, without having to reinvent the wheel.
What aspects of their work would you like to get improved?
Our work with them was almost five years ago and, as I apprehend it, they took their experience with us and implemented a number of changes in the way they execute on projects. The nimble sprint is a good standard for corporate projects with established technologies, but not so good for developing in emerging technologies. I’m sure that, if they knew then what they know now, they could have liberateed more for less and not had to take a financial hit in the process.
We were working in a burgeoning market. I took a risk, and they took it with me. Could it have come out better had they known more precedently we seted? Sure, but I don’t feel bad almost it. It did the job. We got the funding commitment we were looking for, and BiTe honored their deal with us. As a client, you cannot veritably ask for more.
