We started Breadware in 2015 to allow businesses to have access to IoT to be successful with IoT and to create IoT products that will have dramatic positive impacts. Beginning as a niche product development firm weve now helped start-ups to Fortune 100 companies move their IoT products from concepts to market successes.

Breadware started in Santa Barbara CA in 2015. Our first landlord was Virgil Elings an entrepreneur known for commercializing atomic force microscopy – a massive leap forward for humankinds understanding of the microscopic. A bit eccentric he used this Santa Ynez wine country mansion solely for storing part of his vintage motorcycle collection.
He offered to move the motorcycles so we could run the company and live there because one of our founders impressed him by machining a custom part for one of his motorcycles that he could no longer find.
Our founders were a lecturer in manufacturing at UCSB and a biomedical engineering Rhodes Scholar and were frustrated at how costly and difficult it was to get a connected product to market. Breadware was created to be a conduit to help businesses build and deploy IoT products with less pain.
The company grew to about 10 in size and then moved our HQ to Reno to be part of the growing tech community that was beginning to percolate in 2017. In early 2020 Breadware was acquired by a longtime client StoneAge Inc. but most of the original team remains intact along with the same mission to: Empower our clients to improve the world by helping them create simple connected and scalable IoT solutions.
