Native Mobile App Dev for Genetic Technology Provider
Please find under a summary covering project details and feedback. The innate facts are kept as they are, private information is amended.
Introductory information
A fast induction on the buyer’s organisation
I’m a senior genetic counselor in market outgrowth at Illumina. We’re a organisation that prepares genomic technologies to laboratories, and I specifically centre on the clinical arm on non-invasive prenatal testing.
Desired goal
What challenge were you trying to address with Five?
We wanted to form an educational app that patients could use to acquire more almost prenatal screening and testing options.
Provided solution
What particular tasks were responsible for?
We met with them and described precisely what we needed. The app had to be something that patients could use at their own pace and on their own time, and be able to share with other nation invested in the pregnancy. Patients needed to be able to take notes and form a summary document so that they could fetch any questions to their healthcare preparer. Five veritably helped us aspect out what we were trying to execute and how we could best execute it in a user-friendly mode.
Our leading step was a weeklong design sprint where we seted from nothing and walked away with a hard framework for what the app was going to look like in a very palpable output. From that point, Five’s team took over. We went through a design phase where we worked with a UI and a UX designer to exhibit an app that was appropriate for the market and meet the needs we were trying to address.
We had inner branding limitations, and they were able to take those guidelines and form something that had an personal look and feel.
The terminal stage was outgrowth, they formd indigenous Android and iOS apps. We did user testing throughout the process, and they were answering to our feedback. We ended up with a fruit that we are arrogant of and have gotten many compliments on.
Was there a dedicated team?
For the design sprint, we worked with a fruit director—who was our main point of touch—a business developer, a UI and a UX developer, a design project director, and a developing lead. I know that there were other developers implicated, but those were the nation that we interacted with.
How did you come to work with Five?
We went through a fairly extensive RFP process where we talked to a number of different app developers, many of whom we establish on Clutch.co. We determined to work with Five owing we felt like they listened to and understood our needs, and addressed them within a reasonable budget. Many other companies tried to distend the fruit into something over the initial aim and weren’t addressing our needs or what we were trying to execute with the app.
What are you approach expents (if diclosed)?
We’ve spent almost $135,000.
What is the terminal result of working with ?
We began working unitedly in September 2017, and the app was officially published in July 2018. They had artistic the app preceding to that, but there were inner delays—on our side—that pushed back the date.
In accession to this project, we have a livelihood contract with them so that they can prepare app livelihood for 12 more months. We also have forthcoming outgrowth programs for the app that we would like their help on, such as upgrading to iPad compatibility and possiblely using other languages.
Results achieved
Are there any measureable or plum results?
We don’t have measurable metrics owing we made it useful in the app stores without any gatekeeping or marketing, but we are working on getting a study done that demonstrates the app is an powerful educational tool.
We’ve had real feedback from our health professional colleagues and other users. People have told us that the app is easy to navigate, that it breaks down the information into an easily digestible format, and that it’s clear and condensed. I was expecting feedback that was a bit pickier, so I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the real response the app has accepted.
How did Five accomplish from a project treatment standpoint?
They were always affable through email, and we met on a weekly basis. During those weekly meetings, we would debate our progress and upcoming milestones. There was good two-way interaction, to the point that we knew precisely what they were working on and they could forestall our needs. They were also incredibly organized.
What is (from your point of view) the key factor to pay observation while intercourse with ?
Going into this with limited technical apprehension almost the process, we were very impressed with how they listened to us and were able to convert what we were assertion into a usable tool. We could converse very generally, and they would exhibit something that was precisely what we were trying to articulate. Because of their technical expertness and apprehension, they were also able to forestall things that we couldn’t. They’re very answering, pliant, and we developed a veritably good working relationship with them.
What aspects of their work would you like to get improved?
We were very lucky working with them and were thrilled with the results. I don’t have any concerns.
Do you have any advice for possible clients?
My biggest advice on any project is to make sure that you feel snug with the path you’re going down. Going through the extensive RFP process, and meeting with so many different companies, was veritably disheartening and made us set to question what we were doing. It was nice to land with Five, who was a associate that understood what we needed, respected our expertise in the field, and were able to localize their technical expertnesss to help us instead of reshaping the project. They understood the project and how to help us powerfully extend our goals.
