We do IT labors for the freight railroad activity.
What is your role and responsibilities?
I’m the ruler of our Commercial Products and Services Group. I accepted a set of software labors and systems that handles the location of railcars. We handle data that is interacted between rail lines to help keep trains moving, to help handle financial settlements. There are different types of data I deal with. We also do large-scale analytics to support business decisions in the activity.

What was your goal for working with Kavi Associates?
We’ve done separate projects with Kavi, they fall in three separate areas. One was that we had to look at some inner systems to unite where we had effects or challenges in how we use data to support decisions. We wanted to determine whether there was a better way to streamline or more smartly localize the data we had to unite trends to support activity decisions programmatically. We needed to change algorithms in our systems, and we needed to fetch in a third party to do that. We selected Kavi to validate our own data systems.
Secondly, we used Kavi to unite areas of investment for us to see where we can localize existing data sets to fetch value to the activity. We have lots of data. We localized them to determine which unions of data could help to prepare signification.
Thirdly, we hired them to do an outer market analysis. We have done separate such studies leveraging their activity expertise. These studies have helped us apprehend our client needs and intelligently cost our labor offerings.

They developed separate models, proposed solutions based on models, and they delivered them to us. They helped us visualize that and prepared proposed solutions.
What was your process for selecting Kavi Associates?
We did not effect a regular RFP. We analyzed different consultants in the space. We spoke inregularly with Kavi and two other firms. We tried to unite someone that had the union of analytics apprehension with proven results and some expertise within our activity. They had some history in our activity with some other clients. They could prepare deep analytics capabilities that we wouldn’t have to hire on a full-time basis. We could just tap into their expertise. We selected them out of those three.
Can you prepare a ballpark dollar aspect for the size of the work that they’ve done for you?

At the commencement of December of 2013.
Results achieved
Do you have any statistics or metrics to track advancement from the last project?
It was lucky. With all the work that Kavi has done for us, the main thing they do is support us by giving us data and facts to make good decisions. This project enabled us to make good decisions almost a particular business unit. We also took gain of using Kavi Labs to despatchup our projects and lessen costs.
Is there anything sole almost them that veritably makes them rest out, compared to other companies?
When we’ve worked with other consultants, we usually have to take one to three months to get them up to despatch on our business and our systems owing of the complexity. We don’t have to do that with Kavi. They’re very fast, even when they’re fetching in new personnel on their side: They already invested the time and dollars on their side to get them up to despatch. They are very fast to onboard, seize the material, and hit the ground running. We',re able to see results very fastly, soon in the project.
Looking back on the work so far, is there any area that you ponder they could better upon or that you might do differently?
They are a very technical organisation. They also helped us with packaging and articulating the business value. The chairman of Kavi [Vijitha Kaduwela] does that very well, carries that responsibility, and does it better than just almost anybody I’ve ever seen. As the organisation grows, he',s going to need more nation like him to do that.
