As a company principal and a freelance producer I have over 25 years of experience producing documentaries commercials and music videos.
Ive learned how to use the language of film to tell engaging stories tailored to specific audiences. Ive gained a deep understanding of production and post-production technologies and so Im able to grasp quickly what a client expects to achieve from a production.
My career was influenced by producing music videos for The Talking Heads Television and other bands at the now legendary club CBGBs way ahead of MTV. Ive also had the privilege of working with directors such as Peter Sellars Jim Jarmusch Lindsay Anderson Michael Apted and Sam Peckinpah on a variety of music documentaries.
As a partner in MICA TV in the 1980s I produced a series of short video art portraits of the artists Cindy Sherman Richard Prince Laurie Simmons and others. These have been shown on the BBC and Channel Four as well as in museums around the world including the Metropolitan Museum of and The Whitney Museum.
My attraction to storytelling and to museums began when I was a kid hiking through the galleries of the Metropolitan Museum of Art visiting my favorite paintings. Thats when I first understood that art and history are important because they teach us about ourselves. I learned a lot more when I began interviewing artists like Brice Marden and John Cage as the editor of View a magazine published by Crown Point Press in San Francisco.
In the mid-80s I studied TV and video art curating museum exhibitions packaging series for public TV and learning how to tell stories from a curators point of view. From there it was a short leap to becoming a producer myself.
We started MediaCombo in 2004 to help clients engage their audiences with audio visual programs as well as websites and interactives Im fortunate that weve been working with a diverse group of cultural institutions government agencies foundations and others ever since.
My focus is on product development user experience content creation and strategy. Im always eager to immerse myself in new technologies like AR and VR so that I can communicate their benefits and limitations to clients.
In 2018 I graduated from the Goldman Sachs 10000 Small Businesses accelerator course. I also became co-chair of the Media Technology amp; Design Commission with the NYC Department of Education Career amp; Technical Education Commissions serving over 30000 students in 40 schools.
