Some details
Mightybytes and the Alliance for the Great Lakes (AGL) have worked together since 2016. Our relationship started initially with a website redesign. The Alliance was using many different systems to manage their online communications and website. The design was dated, the navigation challenging, and information architecture problems made it difficult for visitors to find what they needed. This led to fewer donations, less
advocacy, and missed volunteer recruitment opportunities. AGL turned to Mightybytes for help solving these problems.User research and extensive content strategy helped AGL better inspire advocates to save the world',s largest body of freshwater. Defining content types and messaging to inspire conservationists and Great Lakes advocates were at the core of this project. By better engaging their users, the Alliance can build community and drive donations, volunteerism, and advocacy efforts.
Since launch we’ve worked with the Alliance to build out feature improvements, improve SEO, and test lead generation strategies. We created and configured reporting for users and conversions and made numerous other improvements over time. Our goal in this work was to increase email signups, donations, volunteer registrations, and advocacy actions.
In 2019, Mightybytes ran a design sprint with the AGL in order to refine their Adopt-a-Beach program. The platform they used to run the program was buggy and had compatibility issues which presented problems for their admins and volunteers.
We decided that the best course of action was to conduct a design sprint. Together with the AGL team we were able to conceptualize, draft, implement, and test a new management tool that addressed their core concerns, all within the space of a week. This experience helped them rethink not only how the software should work but how the program overall could be significantly improved.
