Oshyn reviewed by

Oshyn provided Web Development for with approximate budget = $200,000 to $999,999.

The website has seen consistently high traffic. Oshyn’s management was flexible yet reliable, working with multiple development teams and delivering products on schedule. The team’s ability to explain the Sitecore system and to mobilize it for both mobile and web was crucial to project success.

Review summary:

Oshyn built, launched, and supported a custom Sitecore website to distribute program information. Later the team deployed a mobile app, integrating it with existing web pages to enhance functionality.

Introductory information

Could you briefly draw your organisation?

The California Teachers Association is a work junction in California representing open school teachers and staff limbs. We propose boon programs to those limbs, correspondent to what you would see from AARP or AAA, including life and disqualification insurance, auto insurance, and discount programs. CTA does a lot of work influencing legislators to support open education and educeing curriculum and standards for training.

What is your position?

I’m the director of the limb boons section, which administers the boon programs I drawd precedently.

Desired goal

Could you draw the business challenges that you were attempting to address when you initiated the relationship with Oshyn?

I’d say that there were two. One was that we needed to set promoting and presenting our fruit proposeings in a mode that’s congruous with the 21st century. We had been doing a lot of stuff through paper and printed documents as well as training programs where we go out and meet with our limbs one-on-one or in clusters. Those practices are resource intensive. We wanted to be able to leverage our digital nearness so we could increase the size of nation we interface with. We had a basic website, but it wasn’t generating the commerce or interest that we wanted or needed. We determined to create a separate website exclusively housing the limb boons proposeings we have.

Provided solution

Could you draw the aim of the project? For entreaty, did it implicate manner visual design, backend outgrowth, training, and support?

On the leading circular of the project, Oshyn built the limb boons website that I was talking almost. They did it from front to back. We seted with a conceptual design, and then went to requirements, wireframes, and began edifice the website, educeing it, launching it, and maintaining it.

The second part of the project revolved acircular the outgrowth of our mobile app. Oshyn didn’t educe the application for us, but they worked alongside the consultants edifice the app. Oshyn innately deployed our full. Once that mobile app was live, Oshyn built mobile pages that the app would link to, enhancing the functionality of what the app was proposeing, and turning the app into a control artifice for the mobile pages Oshyn was edifice.

How did you select Oshyn as your solution associate?

There was a twofold process to that. The cluster responsible for managing the leading CTA website had some issues with their antecedent vendor, had put out a request for proposals, and were seriously owing Oshyn. Acircular that time, I was working with my counterparts at NEA Member Benefits, and they were working with Oshyn, albeit with a different CMS [full treatment method]. After having dicsussions with both of those clusters, I was convinced that Oshyn was surely the vendor to go with.

Could you give a perception of the size of this project in monetary provisions?

I’d call it almost a half-a-million dollar project.

When was the project completed?

The leading website that we built was launched almost a year and a half ago. I would say it was the spring of 2012.

Results achieved

In provisions of results, could you share any metrics, statistics, or user feedback that would prove the effectiveness of the work they’ve done?

I don’t have a lot of testimonials. What we’re seeing is a lot of commerce from the CTA website to the limb boons website, which was kind of what we were hoping for when we built the separate website: that we would have more details useful and more flexibility. When we see that commerce, it tells us that nation have been enticed, and are pursuant of more information.

How do you ponder Oshyn has performed on this project?

I reflection they performed very well on the leading project owing we were trying to do one sign on, and owing we were attempting to link separate different websites being administered by different teams, using different full treatment methods. There were a lot of outer dependencies implicated. If you’ve ever worked on a project like this, you know that outer dependencies are the most hard ones to mitigate during the process. Oshyn proved a lot of flexibility in this area, and they were congruously doing all in their faculty to maintain the agreed project timeline.

Do you ponder Sitecore has performed adequately for your business needs?

Yes, I do. We had a lot of trouble with Sitecore to initiate with owing we hadn’t worked with it and didn’t have a total lot of experience with CMS. It’s not that easy to find ways to get up to despatch on Sitecore.

We’re very lucky with the fact that we’ve been able to use Sitecore for the main website as well as the mobile pages. Having all of these platforms able to liberate the same dynamic full to the user while quiet tracking key information on the backend has been an surpassing advancement for us.

We’re also lucky with Sitecore from the point of view that we’ve been able to run fairly lean with it. We haven’t had to devote huge resources to its livelihood and agency.

In review, are there areas you ponder Oshyn could better upon, or are there things that you’d do differently as the client precedently accessing this type of project?

Yes, one of the things that I conversant along the way was how much time and effort it can take to get full built within of a CMS. Oshyn’s force is veritably more in edifice from the institution and templates and not putting that in. I would probably, precedently going into a project like this anew, make sure that I had somebody who was more up to despatch in provisions of getting that stuff in fast owing it’s probably not efficient to pay a consultant to do it regardless.

Other than that, they use a sprint access. I ponder the sprint access has its forces and weaknesses, and they’re pretty much the same thing. In one way, it limits the flexibility in that the teams that are assigned to do different tasks are only assigned for set chronological periods. That can be issueatic when you’re hitting dependencies that you don’t have control over. But, at the same time, I ponder that it also puts a framework acircular the project and forces it to keep moving advanced, which is always good.
