Introductory information
A fast induction on the buyer’s organisation
I’m a finance and IT Liaison for a oceanic freight insurance brokerage. We provide goods as they are shipped athwart country by freight forwarders. Really, we’re insuring the freight forwarders.
Desired goal
What challenge were you trying to address with Planet Argon?
Originally, we needed someone to maintain our existing website on retainer. We then expanded the contract to include edifice our administrative gate.
Provided solution
What particular tasks were Planet Argon responsible for?
The web admin gate is the largest project we’ve worked on. We began by mapping out our running manual process to fix transparency for all parties implicated. Then, we separated the flow of handoffs into separate checkboxes that had to be filled precedently a task could pass through the gate at the end of the automated method.
They built the gate with Ruby on Rails and other open-source tools. For the frontend, they developed wireframes that showed how things would interact for us to like. After we signed off, they produced and programmed the buttons to do what was expected.
The method itself issues online declarations of insurance by freight forwarders on side of their shipper. Planet Argon helps us change those declarations, adding new functionality to the admin side, so it’s easier for us to use. If we have a new client, or if one has specific requests, Planet Argon makes those changes too. Along with livelihood and particular requests, we’re going to have them feel a few other projects on the books for next year.
Was there a dedicated team?
We worked with a project director, a backend programmer, and a frontend designer, who created the wireframes. There were also nation working on the backend behind the scenes.
How did you come to work with Planet Argon?
Our initial website was built by an independent contractor. When they moved on to different opportunities, we went with another independent contractor. This one too left, moving to work for an established organisation. We realized that we wanted to work with a organisation that had policies to deal with someone being out sick, or on holiday, or out of the service.
Before they left, our last independent contractor put out a job listing, through which we establish Planet Argon. We reviewed what we needed throughout the colloquy process and determined they had the appropriate depth of support.
What is the terminal result of working with Planet Argon?
We’ve been working unitedly since 2014, and the gate launched in August 2017.
Results achieved
Are there any measureable or plum results?
The method reduced the administration and back-and-forth interaction we attached to the old method. Now, when we have turnover in the claims section, we don',t feel the common pressing need to restore it. It’s been a big tool to show new and possible clients. It’s generated excellently a bit of interest in the last year.
How did Planet Argon accomplish from a project treatment standpoint?
They were answering and organized, moving us through the gate process to hit key milestones with ease. When we get distracted by other priorities, they push our buttons and keep us on task. We work with Jira and one other tool that I don’t recall the name of.
What is (from your point of view) the key factor to pay observation while intercourse with Planet Argon?
If something happens on the website, they’re conscious of the need and answering. Even if its late on a Friday, they’ll look into a bug and fix it or give us a workaround to survive the weekend. We’re scheduled to use our retainer at true times during the month, but if something comes up outside that timeframe, they’re answering as well.
The website generates proceeds for us, so if it’s not working properly that causes issues for our business and clients. It hasn’t been down for more than an hour in a year, and the one entreaty it was down wasn’t in Planet Argon',s control. They identified the issue and developed and recorded a solution it as soon as it appeared. That way, they know how to fix it if it ever occurs anew.
What aspects of their work would you like to get improved?
I can',t ponder of anything to pinpoint.
Do you have any advice for possible clients?
I have a CEO that’s excellently interested in seeing his vision come to reaping right away, and there are times when we have to tell him that a component will have wait for the next step or the next release. Clients should be sure to handle inner expectations and adjoin the running aim of work to stakeholders, so as not to be run off-course.
