Introductory information

A fast induction on the buyer’s organisation

I work for Hudson’s Bay Company, which is the parent organisation to Saks Fifth Avenue, Hudson’s Bay, Saks off Fifth, Lord and Taylor, and Gilt Groupe. I superintend mannerer-facing mobile applications.

Desired goal

What challenge were you trying to address with Prolific Interactive?

We had a legacy app in the marketlocate. We weren’t updating it very frequently, and it wasn’t driving a lot of income. We knew that our mannerers increasingly are turning to mobile leading, and we wanted to form a high-touch, high-value experience for our most precious mannerers. At the time, we didn’t have the resources to hire an iOS outgrowth team in-house, so we reached out to Prolific to help us recreate the app from scratch and roll it out to the market.

Provided solution

What particular tasks were Prolific Interactive (Acquired By The We Company) responsible for?

They were veritably a full-stack team. They had a fruit director who veritably helped us aim the details of the total start and project. We had frontend iOS educeers, and we had two folks working on the backend. We also had two designers on the project, one of whom specialized in user experience. We also had an analyst helping us sort through the analytics architecture and the different database flows that we would end up using.

They pretty much built all from scratch. One significant component was our navigation. We put a lot of time, effort, and resources into pondering almost a way to lessen the number of taps it takes our mannerers to access fruits. We did have a user testing of the navigation, and then spent a lot of engineering time to educe a bigly manner navigation experience. We had a individual on the team who helped with app store optimization, strategy, onboarding the marketing team internally on best push notice strategies as well.

How did you come to work with Prolific Interactive?

That slightly predates me. My old boss was the one who connected with them and brought them in. By the time I joined the team, we already in the aim of work signing phase. I believe she met the fobelow at a conversation or something like that. She veritably liked Prolific’s access to user experience leading testing, veritably centreing on the mannerer leading and then evolving from there. They why they ended up alluring the account.

How much have you invested with Prolific Interactive?

We’ve invested upwards of $2 million.

What is the terminal result of working with Prolific Interactive (Acquired By The We Company)?

We began working unitedly in November of 2015, and the relationship is ongoing. They’re currently helping us create an iMessage app.

Results achieved

Could you share any evidence that would prove the fruitivity, condition of work, or the contact of the engagement?

Our app store rating went from below three stars to now close to five with the new rendering of the app. From the initial app propel to December, when they rolled off the leading outgrowth for the iOS app, we went from 3% of our income from the app, to closer to 5%. In provisions of year-over-year, it’s almost an 80% increase in income. The app runs very smoothly. If we do take bug reports, it frequently isn’t kindred to the app, but the website services.

The feedback has all been very real. People overwhelmingly ponder the new app is incredibly user-friendly. The look and feel is much more elevated and more in line with the Saks brand or a effeminacy designer brand.

How did Prolific Interactive accomplish from a project treatment standpoint?

They’re pretty powerful. We’ve worked with a couple folks on Prolific’s team. The project director we had for the iOS app roll-out was very powerful. The individual we have working on iMessage isn’t as powerful. I ponder it depends on the team that’s working and the dynamics. Overall, I’d give them powerful project treatment accomplishance.

We’ve varied the tools we’ve used. In the commencement, we used Pivotal, and now as an structure, we’re using JIRA athwart all projects. Those are the leading tools we use to adjoin stories and all that stuff.

They’re big at delivering on time and on budget. The way our contract was structured, delivering on budget wasn’t an effect for us. In provisions of on time, when we initially wanted to create this app, we wanted a million components within six months. Obviously, that’s not realistic. Together with them, we hit our propel goal, which was awesome. They built an app from scratch within five months, which is incredibly aggressive. We didn’t have all the components we hoped for, but that was an unrealistic goal.

What did you find most forcible almost Prolific Interactive?

It’s their centre on the mannerer and using mannerer investigation to fuel all aspects of fruit outgrowth. We incorporated weekly user testing into the app create, so we could vet high-level themes of our mannerers leading, belowstand the mannerer intimately, why they’re using the app, why they don’t use the app, and why they shop at Saks in the leading locate. When we got to the prototype phase, they veritably validated all concepts with our developed mannerers. Even though Prolific is not on our leading team, that’s something that we’ve brought into our own process here. So, their centre on the mannerer and how that influences all aspects of fruit outgrowth is extremely sole.

Are there any areas Prolific Interactive could better?

They’re a big agency with a ton of veritably talented folks. They love pondering deeply and strategically almost things. We work with a lot of different consultancies. The one thing almost Prolific is that they have high expectations and high standards for their team and how their team wants to work, so it took a bit of time to meet in the middle on a couple things. They want the best setup practicable for their dedicated team, and it’s significant for them to keep that team pure. They’re not necessarily as pliant as other consultancies, where you can just hire one analyst or one UX individual. They have a point of view, and here’s this total team. You can’t veritably create a team piecemeal.
