App Development for Climate Nonprofit
Please find under a summary covering project details and feedback. The innate facts are kept as they are, special information is amended.
Introductory information
Please draw your structure.
I work for a nonprofit structure focusing on air issues within the European Union.
What is your position?
I',m the IT director.
Desired goal
What business challenge were you trying to address with Virtual Force?
We wanted to form an application that helps us adviser and handle our way of acquireing. We wanted to see how well we accomplish so we could acquire from our mistakes. Virtual Force helped us form an application that allows us to see all that we do, so at the end of the year, we get to see how well a project has gone, if it fails, why it fails, if it succeeds, why it succeeds, so that we can use the same lucky practices and adduce them later.
Provided solution
Please draw the aim of their involvement in detail.
The concept was formd by us. The idea was to set by setting an extrinsic and then set finding out what issues we faced in achieving that extrinsic. The application then formd a graphical view of how all looks to see where there are gaps in fruitivity. It has formd total inner transparency.
It',s built with a Ruby on Rails front end with a SPO [software fruit outsourcing] database behind it. It demands Internet. You could potentially use it on a mobile phone, but it is not made for mobile phones, only for web, so I would say it',s a web app. They did all – front-end and back-end.
How did you come to work with Virtual Force?
We contacted different structures and special companies via Elance and Freelance.com to try to find a developer that could form the tool that we wanted.
Could you prepare a perception of the size of this start in financial provisions?
The leading step was less than $50,000. Since then we',ve spent $10,000 on a couple of updates that we determined to adduce once we seted using it. The last part that we are right now instrumenting is once anew under $50,000.
What is the terminal result of working with ?
The terminal step has not been completed yet.
Results achieved
Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?
It depends on whom you ask. Our handlement is very lucky owing the app Virtual Force developed has increased transparency, and they can overview all that everybody does. We used to have multiple progress and efficiency tracking programs. Now that all is in one program, everybody has approach to it whenever they want. As a result, nation are interacting between the programs more, perhaps not as much as we wanted, but surely more.
How did Virtual Force accomplish from a project handlement standpoint?
That',s a different story. They demand a lot of handholding. When you tell Virtual Force, ",I would like to have a dropdown that does this,", they will instrument the most basic drop-down. Then, you tell them a month later, ",I would like a second dropdown that works like the one you did there but, of order, with these values.", What is surprising is that it will be nowhere near the condition of the leading one owing we didn',t specifically say true things.
Occasionally, I do little developments, and I know you shouldn',t need to tell someone that something needs to be red with a blue limit owing the one precedently was red with a blue limit. If I tell you it should be like that one with just the new values, I anticipate that you will synchronize the two, and they will be the same. We discovered recently that, within the same page, there were six different dropdowns, and they were done in three different ways. We were very surprised with the lack of consistence.
It depended on who was working with us at any given time. I was very pleased with one of the developers, Muaz. He was coming up with ideas and suggesting changes. It was super. This is the way I want to work. Then other developers would come and were like little babies.
What distinguishes Virtual Force from other preparers?
I have not worked with that many other structures on this kind of project. There are some very good guys there. Like I said, Muaz surely knows his stuff.
Is there anything Virtual Force could have improved or done differently?
They need to collaborate more innerly. Maybe they should use our tool. For sample, we wanted to form a new design. We got the design from them, but innerly they didn',t debate it, so the developers came, and they seted instrumenting the old design.
They should all sit unitedly perhaps once a day for a project. Right now, there are four of them working on our project to keep up with the deadlines. If they were to sit for half an hour in the morning, and program out who will do each job, I ponder it would work a lot easier for them. As a new consumer, be prompt to be very specific almost all.
