Vidal OBrien amp; Co. is a firm of chartered accountants established in 1936.
With offices in the Sydney CBD and Mona Vale on the Northern Beaches of Sydney we are able to provide a full range of accounting taxation audit and business advisory services for all business superannuation and individual clients.
The firm has two principals – Graeme Dowsett and Geoffrey Smith – who have long and wide ranging experience in all aspects of accounting taxation superannuation and business services over many and varied business types.
Many of our clients have a long history of association with the firm and have referred new clients to us to enjoy the same level of service afforded to them.
Our staff members are an important link to the service we provide to clients.

Graeme draws on over 37 years of accounting and taxation experience with exposure to all industry business entities and structures. With clients that span 3 generations he has established a close working relationship with his clients providing effective strategies to grow their businesses. The loyalty afforded is reflected in the repeat business that he enjoys from his client base and the referrals of clients provided by them. Graeme is a registered company auditor fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Tax Agent and Chartered Tax Advisor.
Geoff has been at Vidal OBrien for over 35 years and has extensive experience working with SMEs to maximise their business goals. Geoff advises his long standing diversified client base on managing an SME business taxation succession planning and strategies to drive growth. Geoff has clients involved in retail primary production manufacturing the medical profession and not for profit organisations. Geoff holds a Bachelor of Business degree is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Registered Company Auditor and Registered Tax Agent.
Emily is a senior Chartered Accountant with our firm a registered BAS agent and a Justice of the Peace. She has over 18 years of experience in the industry and works in our Northern Beaches office located in Mona Vale.
Emily brings to our firm MYOB expertise along with extensive hands on knowledge of accounting tax superannuation and planning for your future. She gains much of her job satisfaction from witnessing long term clients grow their wealth and achieve business plans.
The majority of Emilys clients are made up of referrals and repeat business and she attributes this to her ability to deliver individual advice and tailoring strategies in clear and easy to understand language in a timely manner. She successfully combines a partnership approach with personal customised service to all clients.
Ernest joined the company in 1989. He is an experienced Accountant in business services accountancy and taxation. Taxation returns for individuals partnerships trusts companies and superannuation funds are skills Ernest brings to the company. Ernests contributions extend to setting up trusts companies and superannuation funds as well as arranging all necessary government regulations for clients.
Thanh has a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) from the University of Western Sydney Macarthur and is an Associate (ASA) member of the CPA. He has been with the firm since 2001 and has over 10 years of professional accounting and taxation experience. Thanh is responsible for a broad range of clients involved in primary production small and medium enterprises in a wide range of industries.
Francis has been a part of Vidal OBrien since 2000. During that time has experience with a diverse portfolio of clients ranging from forestry farming mining travel agency and registered clubs. Francis specialises in financial reporting budgets and cash-flow analysis as well as auditing (companies registered clubs of NSW and self-managed superannuation funds). In his spare time Francis enjoys playing tennis golf and swimming. Francis is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
