About Hamazaki Wong Marketing Group Branding company in Vancouver, Canada

My journey into marketing was circuitous but one that seems to have converged nicely into my role at Hamazaki Wong. From my previous engagement in telecommunications where I served as a people manager juggling responsibilities in customer relations HR disciplines mentoring sales and change management life at Hamazaki Wong allows me to use my skills and more in projects I never imagined Id be managing! Producing Western Canadas largest Red Carpet. Check. Stage managing BCs largest film and television awards program. Check. Producing Canadas first Asian Dining Festival. Check. Whats the next adventure? Despite my enthusiasm for my job its only my second favourite role. The more important and rewarding one is as a mom to my young son. Outside of work you can find me happily roaming the city with my son husband and dog (a cute Shiba Inu). I enjoy travel (Hong Kong and Korea are favourites) food coffee strength training K-Pop and flooding my Instagram followers with random stories. I have a BA in Political Science and Economics from Simon Fraser University which accounts for my enquiring mind and never-ending quest to find the answer to why?. Hmmm...

Im constantly told Im a good boy. But Im not sure what that means because it doesnt score me any extra treats. My dad says my job is office security but Ive never met anyone I didnt like which may be why Im a good boy? Every day I look forward to lunch and my afternoon walk. I love hanging at the office because theres always lots to do and I get pets all the time. Plus all the toys — yes toys! And balls lots of them! I have an instagram page: @einsteinthepom where I have lots of fans downtown and around the world.

My passion for marketing and advertising has taken me to different parts of the world and finally into Canada. The journey of more than two decades has immersed me in strategic communications with emphasis on the vital aspects of meaningful research and results-driven marketing. In the process I have acquired special skill sets essential for mastering mass media and consumer marketing retail and corporate branding beyond local or global advertising.

The clients I work with benefit from the unique perspectives I have acquired through decades of experience in research inspired marketing for leading global conglomerates. These involve cutting edge strategies for marketing attained through extensive consumer research and planning.

At SSCamp;B Lintas (Malaysia) I strategized and planned for major accounts that included Unilever American Express Citibank Benson amp;amp; Hedges Mercedes Benz. I have also worked for Nestle (Malaysia) and Nestle (Switzerland) as their Media Manager successfully marketing brands like Nescafe Milo Maggi and Milk products. Subsequently in Canada I was appointed as a Research Analyst with The Vancouver Sun and Province newspapers primarily focussing on advertising sales of Retail and National accounts. My key tasks included creating sales presentations coaching the sales force in data usage as well as counseling Editorial on media research and marketing strategies.

My quest at this time is to tell a story from the numbers I gather and tell it well enough so that clients understand and above all see the benefits of multicultural marketing. Tapping and mining data into meaningful strategies together with creating new opportunities is something I strive for and continues to add value to the clients business.

In my leisure I love to travel go for nature walks hikes and capturing the beauty of creation in a camera! Watching NBA streaming movies Netflix amid making floral arrangements and cooking with different spices are also some of the things I enjoy.

HELLO! Nice seeing you! I am Karlie a highly motivated digital content creator who moved to Vancouver 7 years ago. With my multicultural background I am able to adapt to different environments easily and also I speak and write in English Mandarin and Cantonese. I completed my BA Communications Degree and Digital Publishing Minor with concentration in the New Media at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver B.C.. I have always been curious about the connection between design and product particularly with branding product visual design brand strategy and event planning.

I have worked as a news reporter at AM1470 Fairchild Radio during my third year at SFU. I also worked at a fast-pacing medical specialist office right after my graduation. And now I#39;m here at HWMG doing what I#39;m passionate for- digital content creation and some event planning for these days. My different job roles have proven my adaptive and flexible nature to different environments high-pressure situations and critical timeliness. Aside from work I like to check out new restaurants go hit the gym enjoy movies/ tv series/ documentaries that make me think and stay in my kitchen and bake ?

I have a lifelong issue with procrastination and punctuality but I like to think that just makes me more creative. Luckily I have awards to prove it! But seriously my writing career has spanned journalism social media copywriting content development and more. Following my graduation in journalism from Ji Nan University in China I continued my studies in Canada earning a Masters in Communication Studies from University of Windsor. From there my travels took me to Vancouver where the city captured my heart and has become my home. This led me to a career stop as a journalist for a major daily news publication. During this time I also freelanced in multicultural marketing working on major tourism assignments and touring the Province for a regional marketing board developing content and promotions on Facebook Twitter Weibo WeChat and other social media platforms.

As luck would have it this led me to Hamazaki Wong where I lead copywriting and campaign development for major brands in business sectors including airline automotive consumer packaged goods charitable culinary financial services and tourism. Ive also successfully managed creative projects from beginning to end. I derive particular enjoyment from using my excellent Chinese language skills and creativity manipulating language in a way that results in a resonant whole something that was hidden in my journalistic years. Im also a passionate Mad Men fan and am fortunate to be able to live out my aspirations in real life. Who knows I may become the next Peggy Olsen!

Im a Vancouverite who moved away and am happy to again reclaim this city as my home. My time away — three years in China working at major agencies and international brands — has instilled in me a global orientation with a local focus all of which contributes to my role at Hamazaki Wong. In China I worked at leading media and communications agencies as account manager where my primary responsibilities included the development of brand and media strategies (digital social eCommerce CRM and traditional media) as well as overall project management execution and business development. Ive worked with global marketers and brands in sectors including baby care skin care personal and hair care automotive consumer packaged goods technology products and pharmaceutical.

While abroad I also completed my eBusiness concentration from Shanghai AnTai Business Management School. My fluency in English Cantonese and Mandarin along with my meticulous and detail-oriented personality are assets I bring to every assignment. My other passions include the Vancouver Canucks (bah to bandwagoners!) and taking advantage of everything the West Coast lifestyle has to offer whether its the Grouse Grind volleyball fencing golf hockey or dragon boating. I love to tweet about #marketing and sometimes about beer — depending on how much of the latter Ive imbibed! I graduated from the Sauder School of Business at University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in Marketing and International Business.

I have many passions — among them creativity design and coffee in varying orders of importance depending on the time of day. I am a seeker of knowledge and creativity in all its forms looking to see how these elements fit into and contribute to the fabric of the world around me — and sharing these discoveries with others. But its in the area of art and design that I find my expression in practice. My incessant doodling tattoo drawing and visual curiosity while growing up would inevitably lead me to my career based in art.

At Hamazaki Wong I am a veteran creative having worked on virtually all our client assignments over the past decade and a half. You name a client category Ive likely worked on it and won awards and accolades in the process. Naturally I keep abreast of design branding advertising trends and solutions to keep me nimble and ahead of the young people around me! I originally hail from Hong Kong where I worked on some of the largest global brands in airlines financial services and retail. Now about that other passion: coffee. I often muse What makes coffee so good and why does it often smell better than it tastes? How do I make my coffee better? The creative exploration continues…

Im a marketing practitioner with a sense that marketing can do good in the world. By day as creative director with an equally strong strategic streak I have been fortunate enough to work on major brands — globally and locally — in sectors including airline automotive financial packaged goods resources retail telecom service industries and more. But by night I have an affliction that I call the caring gene and its this greater sense that manifests itself as an engaged community-minded individual who has helped establish some of Canadas most prominent institutions including Canadian International Dragon Boat Festival Leo Awards Board of Change and others. Ive served on multiple community and not-for-profit boards and continue to do so.

I follow my passions — marketing creativity sustainability arts and culture social change — and these pursuits typically lead to some entrepreneurial marketing machinations. Ive always got something(s) on the go and am an always-on personality! Oh and Ive also won awards for my work including an achievement award 40 Under 40 by Business in Vancouver given to top business leaders under the age of 40. I also taught marketing in the Faculty of Commerce at the University of British Columbia and think whenever I decide to retire that teaching might be a worthwhile endeavour. I enjoy cycling and keeping active. I think of myself as a work in progress.

You will likely hear me before you see me. I have one of those tenor voices that seems to cut through a lot of cacophony like the melody in a symphony the signal in the noise or the big idea in a creative campaign. OK seriously (but not really) my background in technology is the perfect complement to my creative role at Hamazaki Wong allowing an innovative approach to our work. I have successfully leveraged my training in computer science and programming to senior roles in the videogame industry and web design and production.

The UI/UX skills gained here are routinely integrated into the work I do for clients in sectors including airline automotive casino consumer packaged goods experiential financial services real estate and more. Outside of work Im a new father who loves spending time exploring the city with my toddler son. Im also a ramen addict having tried all the ramen restaurants in the city and rated them on my ramen review blog. Proudly Ive conquered all the food challenges that ramen restaurants have offered and my weight is none the wiser at least this week.

I have more than two decades of experience in the marketing and advertising industry. I might be what you can call a jack-of-all-trades. During my tenure at Hamazaki Wong Ive been involved with many facets of agency life including production management account management media strategy planning and buying new business development and most recently office janitorial and dishwashing services. Ive also been known to do some creative photoshopping but the creative department has yet to take me up on my skills. I am a daily bike commuter rain or shine and believe Im helping to save the planet one pedal stroke at a time while obviating oil dependency. In my free time you might see me riding up Cypress or Seymour Mountain as Im secretly training for the Tour de France .. for seniors. I would like to complete a marathon one day soon despite my knees telling me not to. I also plan to record a multi-platinum music album one day and tour the world like one of those aging rock stars. I just have to learn how to play the guitar.

I am a policymaker by training and a communicator at heart. For almost two decades I was a member of the elite policymaking team at the Government of Hong Kong and then a senior manager at the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) the citys de-facto central bank. Like opera (which I love!) my days were filled with streams of calm episodes of melodrama and exchanges of brilliance. In those high functioning environments I played roles in communications media and public relations stakeholder engagement crisis communications speech writing and governmental relations where I articulated complex policy issues and directed them to the appropriate audiences whether an audience of one an audience of millions or members of the Hong Kong Legislative Council. I enjoyed developing messages that could influence opinions and generate public support on a variety of policy initiatives. During my time at HKMA I oversaw the development of communication materials that underpinned the successful launch of a number of new strategic initiatives including the Fintech Office. I also am a keen supporter of sustainability and rolled out the first Responsible Investment program for the official reserves managed by the HKMA. I am a graduate of the University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and recently settled in Vancouver. I enjoy reading and opera especially the Italian works composed around the Romantic period.

My love of communications work started when I was working as a policymaker. More than 17 years ago I joined the government of Hong Kong as a member of its elite policymaking team (similar to the Policy Leaders recruited by the federal public service in Canada.) A key part of my work was to articulate complex policy issues and options to stakeholders such as journalists members of the Legislative Council (LegCo) and the general public. After going through some high-pressure moments during a public crisis when I had to produce – on a daily basis and often at a moments notice – different high-impact communication materials including ministerial speeches media speaking points and formal reports for the LegCo I found that I actually enjoyed the satisfaction of developing messages that could help influence opinions and generate public support on policy options.

The communications skills I developed as a policymaker came in handy when subsequently I joined the Hong Kong Monetary Authority which is the citys de-facto central bank. Throughout those years C-suite executives and in-house media officers had looked to me both as a subject matter expert and an executive experienced in strategic and crisis communications for guidance on the best strategy to communicate with key stakeholders. I oversaw the development of communication materials that underpinned the successful launch of a number of new strategic initiatives including the Fintech Office and its first ’Responsible Investment’ program for the official reserves.

As I join the Hamazaki Wong Marketing Group I look forward to helping clients with my years of experience in strategic and crisis communication work in both English and Chinese. If you are looking to promote your organizations mission to potential patrons and donors advocate a stance on a public policy or put things into perspective in a crisiss moment we are ready to help.

When I can put my work aside for leisure I enjoy reading and listening to operas especially the Italian works composed around the Romantic period.

My professional designations of CPA and CGA may stem from the world of accounting but my experience is more versatile and expansive than that. My role at Hamazaki Wong is preceded by a 20-year career in the corporate and high technology start-up world of Silicon Valley. Over that time my body had become accustomed to the California sunshine where I enjoyed the great outdoors filled with days of tennis volleyball and cycling. While I dont think I can ever get used to the Vancouver clouds my days of grey are compensated by my recent marriage and the precious time catching up with friends and family. My other passions include experimenting in the kitchen and travel where Im always trying to cross another country off my bucket list. My varied role at Hamazaki Wong is a perfect complement to my intellectual musings such as:

One of my favourite rules to live by: Always be compassionate and considerate of others because no matter how bad my day is theres someone out there having a worse day.

I am an ambitious bilingual digital content creator with branding and marketing experience in both Hong Kong and Vancouver. I thrive in a fast-paced working environment and strive to deliver results by applying my creativity to find novel solutions.

Before moving to Vancouver I worked as a branding executive in the Hong Kong branch of a leading global health supplements company. There I developed my expertise in social media and retail marketing by working closely with leading advertising agencies on widespread marketing campaigns. My experience in Vancouver includes working for culinary fintech and charitable organizations with a focus on social media expansion.

I am lucky enough to be at Hamazaki Wong an innovative allcultural marketing agency where their creative ideas and determination to push boundaries makes working here very exciting.

My creativity flows from my memories and experiences. So in my free time I like to travel to new cities and experience different cultures.
