The report is a celebration of the UKs fastest-growing and most dynamic small and medium sized businesses across the UK. To be included in the list companies needed to show consistent revenue growth over a minimum of three years significantly outperforming their industry peers.
Cloud Direct was shortlisted among hundreds of entries – including industry giant Ingram Micro – as one of the UKs best cloud service providers (CSPs). The awards celebrate innovation entrepreneurialism and technical excellence from the leading cloud suppliers technologies and projects in the UK cloud sector. Microsoft Red Hat IBM and Deloitte were also shortlisted for the finals in their chosen categories.
Oracle named Cloud Direct as one of five finalists in their tenth annual Oracle Marketing Cloud Awards The Markies in the ’Best Emerging Company Marketing Campaign’ category. The award celebrates the best in modern marketing recognising customer-centric best practice in marketing excellence – ’marketing magic with online creativity digital communication and compelling content’. The awards recognise excellence in the delivery of solutions service and support to end-user customers. In recognition of Cloud Directs commitment to global standards for security best practice the packaged cloud provider was one of the first UK businesses to be awarded ISO 27001:2013 certification in March 2015. Way back in 2003 before the word cloud got thrown around like it was everybodys business CEO Brett Raynes founded Cloud Direct. His vision? Replacing old-world on-premises IT with a simple scalable and secure cloud service that organisations could subscribe to like they did gas or electricity. The idea? To help ambitious businesses compete and thrive by freeing them from the pain and cost of traditional IT.
Brett a serial entrepreneur enjoyed 10 years of founding and running technology businesses in the UK and abroad before he set up Cloud Direct in Bath UK in 2003. After a marketing career at Mars Corporation Brett started up his first business in 1992. He sold this to a NASDAQ quoted business in 1999. Following further experience running equity-backed technology businesses in France and Germany Brett then founded Cloud Direct with the goal of building a leading cloud services provider. Brett has a first-class honours degree in engineering a marketing degree and has completed Cranfield Universitys Business Growth program.
Jane is an accomplished commercial main board director with more than 25 years experience as a chartered accountant and non-executive director chairing boards and audit committees. She is a strategic and analytical thinker with a deep understanding of technology and operations. Jane has an exceptional international track record of delivering strong growth international Mamp;A turnaround and financial results aligned to strong operational and strategic skills.
David Wigley joined Cloud Direct in 2009 to drive structure scale and quality into business operations. He was appointed engineering director in January 2014 to lead the development of Cloud Directs internal systems and the companys proprietary Provide™ automation platform. David is a seasoned operations director with 25 years practical knowledge gained across technology products IT systems software development and project management. In 2000 David co-founded a biotech business which floated on AIM in 2005. Early years were spent in the Mars Corporation followed by various engineering development roles in SMBs where he enjoyed a number of board responsibilities. He has a degree in physics and an MBA from Warwick Business School.
An experienced sales and business management executive in UK and Europe Ian has a track record of growing businesses whether start-ups or established brands. Ian develops differentiated marketing and sales strategies that resonate with customers. He has detailed knowledge of key business drivers and how to make technology support these. Ian strongly believes we are all in sales and that acting as a team with integrity and transparency delivers results and develops loyalty.
Simon a Chartered Accountant has had a number of senior management roles both as Managing Director and CFO in a number of rapidly growing IT businesses. All of these roles have focussed on high-quality service delivery to support customers technology transformation. He has broad experience of Mamp;A both in private practice with Touche Ross Corporate Finance (now Deloitte) and subsequently within the IT sector. He has a degree in Classics from Bristol University followed by programs with the Securities Institute and Cranfield University.
