This quote has both personal and practical implications and embodies my lifes pursuit. Practically – and in business - when people find real answers to problems the discovery brings joy and relief. Personally when a person finds true wisdom he or she finds meaning and purpose.
My professional pursuits first led me into business education. I received both my undergraduate degree and my MBA in business finance. For quite a number of years I worked in corporate finance for several large and small firms. Eventually I became the Controller for a high-tech manufacturing company and began to realize that I wanted to transition from the corporate world into a professional context where I could more directly apply my knowledge. I considered earning my PhD in Finance but soon realized that public accounting was a much better fit and would allow me to start a firm and work with small to medium sized business clients directly.
I started Gheen amp; Co. CPA LLC in 2010. From the beginning our emphasis has been on small to medium sized service-based businesses that we can serve with a system of tax planning business planning and advisory services. We have been diligent – passionate - about applying technology to the accounting and tax industry and have become a model firm of the future. I greatly enjoy seeing our employees grow and develop and am passionate about perfecting the system we have created which serves both our employees and clients so well.
My wife and I have been married since 2002. We have four kids: three boys and a girl. We work diligently with them just like I work to find solutions and improve life for our clients employees and myself. I am a life-long learner a scholar a Christ-follower. I love being outdoors during all four seasons of the year in central New York State. I am a reader. I am an avid rower – both indoor and outdoor. I greatly enjoy tackling the challenges of personal and professional life and helping people around me grow develop and flourish in every possible way.

Working with small business owners was the catalyst that kindled an unexpected passion within my professional career. I strive to not only address my clients#39; accounting needs but to get to know their business learn who they are as individuals not just as business professionals and discover their priorities and goals. Taking this comprehensive more holistic approach to our engagement enables me to not only serve clients as an accountant but as an advisor a coach and a friend.
I began my academic journey at Northern Michigan University where I completed my undergraduate degree in Accounting/Corporate Finance. Soon after graduation I successfully passed the CPA exam. Learning has been a lifelong passion of mine and over the past seven years I#39;ve completed two Master of Science degrees one in Accounting at Southern New Hampshire University and another in Taxation through the Denver University Sturm College of Law. My accumulated knowledge and industry experience enable me to guide small business owners through the complexities of tax compliance and work with them to establish a strong dynamic financial foundation that will help them achieve long-term success.

I am a tax attorney and certified public accountant and at Gheen amp; Co. CPA I advise closely held businesses and their owners on complex tax and business issues. I had no idea I wanted to pursue a career in tax until I took my first tax class in law school. In addition to learning from a brilliant professor who was passionate about the subject I was drawn to the study of tax law because it is something so ubiquitous it impacts everyone in every aspect of our lives. I was also drawn in by the nuances and intellectual challenges of tax law; navigating the tax code is akin to solving a puzzle. During law school I interned with the Internal Revenue Service Office of Chief Counsel assisting IRS attorneys in resolving tax disputes before they reached the Tax Court.
After law school I completed a Master of Taxation degree and concurrently finished the CPA and bar exams. During this time I also helped small and medium sized businesses with their tax compliance and planning. After working with small and medium sized businesses for a few years I transitioned to working with large global publicly held businesses at a Big 4 consulting firm. After spending 5 years working with large publicly traded clients I realized I missed working with individuals and their small to medium sized businesses and decided to begin the next phase of my career at Gheen amp; Co. CPA. I am passionate about helping my clients successfully navigate the complexities of the tax code to mitigate their tax liabilities. At Gheen amp; Co. CPA I help my clients increase their profitability and long-term wealth and I help them understand their tax compliance obligations and risks as well. I have experience assisting clients with state local and federal tax filings. Additionally I have experience in consulting with clients on the tax impacts of transactions including but not limited to choice of entity transaction structuring legal entity rationalization tax due diligence and tax modeling.

I started my professional career upon graduating with a B.S. in Accountancy and became a Certified Public Accountant in the Philippines. Along the way I received numerous academic awards and achievements. My first job was as a Tax Associate in a California-based company which led me to realize that one day I wanted to specialize in and practice US Taxation. After 2 years of work experience I joined Citi and became an assistant finance manager wanting to apply my accounting knowledge and gain more experience in the accounting field. I also became a part time accounting and tax professor. However I quickly realized that what I really want in life is to practice both my tax and accounting skills and specialize in US taxation. Gheen amp; Co. CPA has offered me this opportunity beginning as a staff accountant where I can practice both my accounting and tax skills. The company not only gave me a job but also a family that provides the support to pursue my dreams. Having passed the 3-part EA exam I am now an IRS Enrolled Agent. Currently I am pursuing my dream of becoming a US CPA. I am excited about where this licensure could lead me in career growth within the company. I not only want to help provide competent CPAs in my country but also to inspire and motivate them by sharing my experiences in studies work and life in general.
I am a theatre enthusiast. When Im not at work I enjoy joining musical theatre workshops and performing in theatre productions. I also love to watch movies and theatre shows with family and friends. I love to travel outside the country at least once every year having visited several Asian countries to date. I am very adventurous and love to explore. I also dream of traveling across different states in the US and taking my family and loved ones around the world.

Being the oldest to a family of 9 siblings is a big responsibility especially when you know that all of them are looking up to you. Life was never easy for us but my family was enough for me to continue fighting. I encountered so many hurdles in life; Ive made mistakes and wrong decisions; but all my experiences brought lessons that helped shape who I am now. I want to show my loved ones especially my children that theres always a reason behind everything. That making mistakes is inevitable but it doesnt make you less of a person. We all start from nothing but if we persevere and never give up we can reach our dreams.
I graduated with a B.S. in Accountancy and have almost 20 years of work experience. I have handled various accounting jobs in different fields of business such as manufacturing retail construction and real estate. Before joining Gheen amp; Co. CPA I worked for a California based CPA Firm for 10 years where I started as a Junior Staff worked my way up to becoming Payroll amp; Tax Supervisor. Aside from payroll work I also assisted in preparing documentation for various clients audit (IRS amp; State related). Giving birth to my 3rd child led me decide to leave my job but after almost a year of staying at home I realized that I wanted to do more. I know I can be successful in both being a mom and a career woman. Luckily Gheen amp; Co. has given me all the opportunities. They have shown me a bigger picture of what my capabilities are and given me so many opportunities in my career growth. They made me realize that becoming a US CPA is not just a dream but a goal that should be achieved.
If Im not working I enjoy spending time at home with my kids sharing my stories and life lessons. I also love spending time in the kitchen because I also love to cook. If and when I have the free time I would prefer to use it for traveling; be it locally or out of the country. I love to visit places Ive never been before with unique and breathtaking sights exotic but delicious delicacies with exciting and adventurous activities. Someday I hope to do skydiving as well.

I am an innovative and driven accounting professional. I hold a B.S. in Accounting from Filamer Christian University with current standing as a CPA in the Philippines. I started my career as an Auditor and ultimately transferred to a multi-national IT company as a General Accountant. I believe that as an accountant I have a huge responsibility to our clients by providing quality financial reports accounting and tax support. I grew up on a small island in the Philippines and spent my childhood living near the coastal area where my father works as a fish farmer. During my downtime I like watching social culture documentaries and spend time playing with my nephew. Traveling is something that I really love when I am away from work. I graduated from San Beda University – Manila with a B.S. in Accountancy. I am a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Tax Technician (CTT)in the Philippines. I started my career in a multinational company particularly in Shipping amp; Manning Industry and Shared Serviced Industry as an accountant handling the financial statement of the company. I also became an outsourced accountant in the UK (Nordens Chartered Accountant). Eventually I became an Accounting Manager of We Consult Business Advisory Services handling the Ph account and US account that gave me the opportunity to go to the USA. Right now I am interested in learning more and becoming an expert in the field of US taxation.
When I am not at work I enjoy watching series or movies on Netflix relaxing with friends and travelling outside/inside the Philippines together with family or friends. I am interested right now in traveling all the Asian countries to know different culture and food and if given a chance eventually European countries as well. I love watching sports like basketball boxing volleyball badminton and football.
