The Canfield Scientific VECTRA WB360 has been recognized with multiple awards for its innovation and design. Its awards include a 2017 IDEA Gold a 2017 Readers Choice Medical Design Excellence Award a 2017 Core77 Award Notable a 2017 Gold IDA Design Award and a 2018 European Product Design Award. HSD congratulates Canfield Scientific on the success of the product and thanks them for working with HSD to design this ground-breaking system. The Canfield VISIA Gen7 System was selected as a Notable Award winner in the 2016 Core77 Design Awards. HS Design extends a special thanks to Canfield Scientific the project was truly a collaborative effort in reaching a beautiful solution to a complex problem. VISIA Gen7 is the next generation of complexion analyzing technology from Canfield Scientific. Canfields precision subject imaging system clinical quality lighting and MatchPose live image overlay continue to change the way skin care professionals work with their patients. The new VISIA Gen7 system captures perfectly registered images of left right and frontal facial views and automatically analyzes the images for surface and subsurface skin conditions. The high-quality images captured by the VISIA Gen7 help dermatologists and aestheticians document treatment progress and communicate results and recommendations with patients.
HS Design was selected as a supplier to a winner for 2013 Medical Design Excellence Awards (MDEA) in the In Vitro Diagnostics category. The BioNano Genomics Irys Genomics Platform reveals genome architecture in its native state thereby adding a completely new repertoire to the genomics tool kit. The Irys System allows researchers and clinicians to access meaningful biological information that can be disrupted or completely lost during sample analysis via next-generation sequencing or microarrays. Earlier and more effective disease diagnosis translates directly into significantly lower treatment costs less invasive diagnostic procedures and more effective and successful outcomes.
The Ambio Remote Health Monitoring System manufactured by Arrayent Health LLC dba Ambio Health was named a finalist in the Rehabilitation and Assistive-technology Products Category. Patients with chronic diseases can use this remote health monitoring device from their home sharing important information with their physicians and other authorized health partners. The Ambio system wirelessly and automatically sends readings from various health meters including blood pressure blood glucose weight scale and motion sensors to a web-based Care Portal used by patients and their authorized providers. Remote health monitoring has been shown to significantly reduce hospitalizations and emergency room visits in patients with chronic diseases.
HS Design was selected as a supplier to a finalist for 2012 Medical Design Excellence Awards (MDEA). In the In Vitro Diagnostics category HSD won for the Biomarker Strategies SnapPath 1000 instrument. The device developed with funding support from the National Cancer Institute is an automated live-tumor-cell processing device that enables next-generation biomarker tests known as Functional Signaling Profiles (FSPs) to guide targeted drug therapy selection. Douglas P. Clark MD co-founder and Acting CEO for BioMarker Strategies remarked ’It is an honor to be recognized by the MDEA judges. The SnapPath™ platform responds to a growing need for new approaches to solid tumor testing that will reveal how a patients tumor will respond to targeted cancer therapies.’ HS Design teamed with BioMarker Strategies and Sparton Medical for the design engineering and manufacturing of the platform.
HSD won in the Radiological and Electromechanical Device Category for the Canfield Scientific DermScope. The DermScope is an accessory for the iPhone 4 and 4s that enables dermatoscopic image viewing and capture using the iPhones integral camera and display. It is used by dermatologists to view and photograph highly magnified areas of a patients skin. These images are used to assess diseases of the skin document the condition at different time points and communicate the condition with the patient and other skin care professionals. It is a mobile system that can be used in any setting. Unlike traditional dermatoscopic devices the DermScope does not require the operators face to be positioned in close proximity to the affected area on the patient. Held at arms length the DermScope conveniently captures a highly magnified image on any part of the anatomy.
HSD helped develop the new Connect Live a camera mountable 2-GHz microLite HD wireless transmitter. The Connect Live is designed to address both domestic and international broadcasting band requirements within a single unit. HS Design worked with NuComm to develop the innovative industrial design brand identity and mechanical engineering. It debuted at the 2012 IBC Show and received the TV Technology Europe STAR award the same year. The STAR Award (Superior Technology AwardRecipient) is designed to celebrate and showcase the preeminent technological innovations available to the broadcast industry.
HSD was credited 2009 MDEA award for NeuroStar TMS Therapy System. The NeuroStar TMS Therapy system is an FDA-approved noninvasive therapeutic device for the treatment of depression. It operates by applying a focused pulsed magnetic field that inductively stimulates cortical neurons associated with depression. NeuroStar TMS Therapy System also won a Popular Science 2009 ’Best of Whats New’ Award.
The SPOT™ Satellite Messenger was awarded the Consumer Electronics Associations (CEA) 2008 Innovations Design and Engineering Award. The award judged and selected annually by a panel of independent industrial designers engineers and journalists was given to SPOT in the category of Personal Electronics. Working with GlobalStar Axonn Technologies and MedPlast HSD created a unique product category for personal GPS devices. HS Designs involvement started in the concept phase and continued through engineering detailed databases and liaison with offshore manufacturing.
Bios Defender/Definer Series received the 2008 Industrial Design Excellence Award – IDEA. The Defender and Definer Primary Flow Meters are field-portable primary gas flow meters. Connecting this meter to a gas source allows for accurate measurement of gas flow and if optioned gas pressure and gas temperature. The Defender version is focused on the industrial hygiene and environmental pollution monitoring industries for calibration of air sampling and pollution monitoring equipment; the Definer version has additional functionality and accuracy for use in industrial manufacturing processes laboratory flow measurement and measurement of gases in pharmaceutical and medical applications. These instruments were designed for simplicity in which a technician can easily obtain gas flow measurements with the simple push of a button.
The Axxis Biometrics BD1 biometric fingerprint deadbolt was awarded Design Honors for 2007 from the Consumer Electronics Show. In late 2005 Axxis Biometrics began designing and developing the BD1 biometric fingerprint deadbolt with the assistance of HS Design. With the input of thousands of US consumers as well as multiple well-respected US locksmiths and security firms Axxis Biometrics and HS Design created a deadbolt lock that truly accomplishes a rare blend of beauty and security.
HS Design and Clinically Fit won the prestigious Medical Design Excellence Award in 2007 for the Xtensor therapeutic device. The Xtensor is a portable therapeutic conditioning device for correcting upper extremity disorders. It fully stimulates the extensor muscles tendons and finger joints improving range of joint motion and reducing hand stiffness due to arthritis.
The CellTracks analyzer II is a semiautomated fluorescence microscope used to count and characterize fluorescently labeled cells that are immunomagnetically selected and aligned. It is used with the CellTracks AutoPrep system and specific reagent kits.
The CellTracks AutoPrep system is used with immunomagnetic reagents that capture target cells and labeling reagents that differentiate them. The first application is based on isolation and characterization of rare circulating tumor cells.
The strategic planning and design development of the Hill-Rom Clinitron Critical Care Bed resulted in increased patient comfort and improved staff convenience. The blending of two distinct treatment technologies led to a significant advance in critical patient care.
