’I would like to thank you for the superb work that you and your colleagues offered us in designing customizing and creating our website. It has provided not only exceptional functionality and reliability but has communicated our companys message and information in a user-friendly and eloquent way. We have received exceptional feedback from users with regard to the quality of the website.’
’Perkins Design created a rebrand strategy and a software management tool to replace our existing identity. Richard Perkins was actively involved during the process and maintained a hands-on approach throughout implementation. He was accommodating with his time and resources and versatile in correspondence methods including onsite meetings email screencast and phone. I found Rich to be very easy to work with responsive and informative.’
’I have worked with many different designers and none of them could execute and produce what I wanted. Then I met Rich and he nailed it the first time. He created an amazing website that fit my particular brand – Skrapperstyle – perfectly.’
approach
We follow a simple common-sense time-tested design approach.
Before we begin a project we typically ask clients the following questions. Delving into these questions and having a discussion based on the answers will mean that your design will be more authentic and more directed at your targeted audiences.
1. Why do you want to have a new website or have your current site redesigned?
2. What will happen if you dont have a new website or have your current site redesigned?
3. Please describe your organization in a few sentences.
4. What is there about you and your background that sets you apart for a special (niche) group of potential customers?
5. What problems do your prospects have that your business solves?
Initial Client-Consultant Meeting
We typically ask our clients to fill out a questionnaire which brings out the key issues to be solved during the design process. Next we like to have a kickoff meeting to discuss the key issues. Finally we create a creative brief which outlines the goals of the design process and specifies the preliminary design criteria. We will review existing marketing materials and logos and review any comparable logos and websites that we like/dislike. This process is for both a print web or environmental design project.
Research and Conceptual Design
We will research the visual language around your industry evaluate competitors visual identity and begin to sketch out design concepts. We will meet to discuss the Conceptual Designs.
Round 1 Design
Based on discussion of the Conceptual Designs we will design two or three options. We will then have a meeting to discuss these initial options. This is the most critical meeting where we determine what options are working and what are less successful. We will discuss options for fonts color palettes symbols etc. Often elements of one option may later be combined with elements of another of the options.
Round 2 design
Based on feedback and discussion from the last meeting we will revise combine redesign and come up with two refined options. We will present these options via PDF.
Round 3 design
Based on feedback from the Round 2 design we will final manipulations and adjustments.
For a print project (logo or print collateral) the logo will be designed in such a way as to be applicable in all contexts – on letterhead and business card on a website. For a website project we will provide specific mockups in PDF format. Web development will follow from these mockups approved by the client.
