Ridge Road Media LLC is the fulfillment of a long time dream. When I started college in New Jersey in 1999 at the height of the dot-com boom I had designs on starting the next great website and becoming the next Internet billionaire. I studied Computer Science worked for the department and made websites for fun in my spare time. Plans change of course and I ended up majoring in History and becoming a teacher here in the Rio Grande Valley.
After seven years in the classroom I decided to find my way back to that original goal. It took over a decade but I have come full circle: I am running my own business focusing on work that didnt exist when I was in college: social media marketing and management.
Teaching helped me hone skills that are now the basis for my social media philosophy. Any success I had started and ended with building relationships and its at the heart of what I do now. I had to make what we were learning relevant to my students lives to truly engage them. The same is true for any social media post. My students knew that we would work hard every day to learn improve and grow. That kind of consistency and reliability is what has made our marketing so effective.
While the company is new it is merely an extension of the work I have been doing in social media for years. While teaching I used Twitter and Facebook to build an audience for my education blog I Want to Teach Forever and to market two self-published books. As I transitioned away from teaching I co-founded WhatMcAllen a website detailing things to do in and around McAllen TX. With no outside financial backing I have relied squarely on social media to build it into the best website in the region today.
In August 2012 I began managing social media for Roosevelts at 7 McAllens first craft beer bar and restaurant and since then I have been fortunate enough to help launch a number of new businesses and help grow existing ones.
Theres an old cliche: if you do what you love youll never work a day in your life. Thats where I am today. I cant wait to help you fulfill your own goals and dreams.
