For every project our clients goals are our goals. We listen carefully to fully understand their needs for design and delivery. Our experienced design staff is skilled in project management helping to complete projects on time and within budget with outstanding customer service. And our multidisciplinary experience — including architecture urban planning and interior design — allows us to take all aspects of the built environment into account to create places where people want to be.
Founded in 2010 Smith Gee Studio is located in a 100-year-old warehouse building which reflects our collaborative and creative culture as well as our relaxed yet professional work environment.
As a part of our mission we give back to our community by serving in board and commission positions volunteering our time and providing design services to not-for-profit organizations.
A good example of our approach to architecture happens every Thursday when we host an in-house brown-bag lunch professional development series called Design Round Table or DRT. We set aside this time for our team to present current projects for feedback share current research or conference findings and explore new ideas in design and innovation. We also take this opportunity to get out of the office to visit current projects under construction tour fabricators and showrooms and explore downtown Nashville and some of the institutions that make our city great.
When we moved into our current space we knew eventually (and hopefully) we would have a need for a front desk and receptionist. In the meantime we found a way to utilize our entry space by transforming it into an entry lobby. The studio collaborated with Good Wood Nashville for the fabrication of a Beam Bench made out of Heart Pine wood and steel brackets. Originally a beam reclaimed from an 1870s building at Printers Alley and 3rd Avenue in Nashville this work is a reminder of the seamless contrast and spectrum of design; from initial life to a finished product.
