Some details
Lonza required a cross-platform, responsive app to allow their agrictultural customers to manage the deployment of pesticides responsibly by using offline image recognition to calibrate the rate of dispersal.
Additionally, a CMS was created to manage information on pests and the product, which was also localisable into any number of languages on the fly. This data was then downloaded by the app and stored to the device
for use offline.Lastly, a notification function was created to send automated calibration information to local water authorities to enable them to effectively manage water sourcing in order to avoid any chances of contanimation.
Our technical solution involved React Native with Open CV framework Native Modules to enable the accurate offline image recognition functionality. The result was a swiftly built, on-budget cross platform solution.
Feedback from the farming community has been very positive, and we are happy to have been involved in a project which enables more responsible farming techniques.
