Introductory information

A fast induction on the buyer’s organisation

I’m the VP of technology and outgrowth at NBC Universal for Bravo, Oxygen, and Universal Kids. I superintend the technical outgrowth of our digital properties including Drupal developers and video operations for each of those three brands.

Desired goal

What challenge were you trying to address with Lullabot?

The backend of our websites is currently hosted in Drupal 7. We wanted to move to Drupal 8.

Provided solution

What particular tasks were Lullabot responsible for?

The aim of the project was fairly big. The size of work was the equiponderant of three standalone projects. Lullabot replatformed our Bravo and Oxygen websites to Drupal 8. Both have numerous offshoot components that obey both the web and also Apple News, Facebook Instant Articles, and Google Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP).

Lullabot also upgraded most of the code. They artistic separate incomplete modules for the Drupal 8 aggregation. We program to have them replatform a third website for Universal Kids in the near forthcoming.

What is the team compound?

between 8–10 nation from Lullabot were assigned to our project. We worked straightly with the developers as well as a project director.

How did you come to work with Lullabot?

We initially establish them through word of mouth. At this point, we',ve had a long history working with Lullabot. They’ve supported a difference of projects for us over the past five years including a migration from Drupal 6 to Drupal 7. Having had a good experience working unitedly on that project, they were the plain choice for our next one.

What is the terminal result of working with Lullabot?

We worked unitedly from May 2018–February 2019.

Results achieved

Are there any measureable or plum results?

Since we just propeled the new websites, we don’t have definitive results to share yet. Given the complexity of the platforms, we anticipated issues behind the propel, but none have occurred. Lullabot hasn',t had to make any fixes behind the propel. but we haven’t. Everything’s working, which is big. It was a correspondent experience with the antecedent project. The aim of work for this project surely would have been challenging for other teams. They managed it all well.

How did Lullabot accomplish from a project treatment standpoint?

We generally used Slack for both technical and nontechnical interaction. We held customary stand-up meetings with them plus a weekly check in with the project treatment team.

We used Jira to track tickets and the project overall. Other collaboration tools we used were Google Hangouts and Zoom.

The team',s interactions phraseology is big. They use a sophisticated method to determine the project’s quickness including deadlines. I establish that forcible, and haven',t seen it with other teams.

They could easily shift gears, escalate priorities, or switch out teammates whenever we needed. Midway through the project, they brought in a more senior project director to fix they met deadlines.

What is (from your point of view) the key factor to pay observation while intercourse with Lullabot?

Lullabot plainly explained technical requirements in layman',s provisions. The developers', big interaction expertnesss were especially helpful. They listened carefully to our requirements, conducted discovery of their own, and returned with options within a brief timeframe, frequently by the next day.  No other outgrowth house I',ve used has had this expertness.

Since we’re not heavily staffed, Lullabot',s support has been big for our structure. They save us the time we usually have to bestow writing out detailed requirements.

What aspects of their work would you like to get improved?

There',s nothing I can ponder of.

Do you have any advice for possible clients?

It',s significant to know what you want out of your engagement with Lullabot from the set. Compare their antecedent work with what you want to do. It',s also helpful to see if any existing code can be reused.
