At the time of its release in 2009, Minecraft was a modest indie game. Only one person was involved in the development - Markus Persson. The players noticed this diamond themselves. By 2011, the game had no publisher and no financial backing. The developer also did not launch an advertising campaign, there was no need.

  • March 2012 Ranked sixth best-selling game of all time.
  • October 2014 17 million copies. Absolute record for sales on PC platforms. 60 million copies across all platforms.

  • 2018 144M copies sold, 74M unique players per month.

This statistic is greatly underestimated as it only includes data from official websites. The number of pirated servers and copies of the game cannot be counted.

The popularity of the game is due to its addictive gameplay. Minecraft is not suitable for eSports. There is no competitive element here, rather the systematic development of their possessions.

Graphics

The cubic world is the hallmark of Minecraft. The whole game consists of cubes that can be moved. The graphics are deliberately simplified, the textures are large, everything is full of squares.

System requirements for Minecraft

The recommended PC configuration should be multiplied several times. The developers do not indicate the required power for mods. This is not possible, as you may have dozens of add-ons installed at one time. All of them eat up system resources to varying degrees.

For example, developers say that a video card is not needed at all. Allegedly, the game will run on the built-in Intel HD Graphics. But this is not so, by installing any graphic mod, the computer will stop producing the required frame rate.
