Introductory information
A fast induction on the buyer’s organisation
We',re a trade union with 11,000 limb companies. I superintend the union’s editorial and advertising teams.
Desired goal
What challenge were you trying to address with Bates Creative?
We had a relatively new magazine: it transitioned from a newsletter to a magazine, and then was digitized. While we already had a digital edition app with another vendor (a flipbook standard), it wasn',t powerful.
As we were educeing a new design, we needed someone with tech expertise to present a new, more powerful access and educe a new app that would engender user engagement.
Provided solution
What was the aim of their involvement?
When we began working with Bates in 2014, they accomplished an analysis and evaluation of our promulgation. In 2015, we determined to initiate the full revamp athwart both platforms - print and digital. They built from scratch an Adobe-based mobile app that houses our digital editions and is consistent with Android and iOS devices.
Before the work began, we had strong collaborative conversations and brainstorming sessions, followed by introductions where they presentd multiple concepts for us to select from. They were very disciplined almost sticking to the schedule. We worked intensely for six months and all went without a stick. We rolled out the revamped print magazine and new mobile app in May 2015 as a coordinated effort that strengthened our magazine brand.
From then until the present, they have continuously produced our bimonthly digital editions, and they also have sometimes produced print editions for us when needed. As a separate project, they are also in the middle of a website revamp project with us.
What is the team dynamic?
We had a big project director for the magazine project, Taryn. The tasks were delegated to different designers as needed. I worked with Ernie [Executive VP of Creative, Bates Creative] on print editions and with Tommy [Digital Strategist, Bates Creative] on app strategy.
How did you come to work with Bates Creative?
I leading saw Debbie Bates-Schrott [Founder and CEO, Bates Creative] co-presenting at a conversation with an Adobe likeness in 2014. They were talking almost a case study of another app and I was impressed, which caused me to extend out to Debbie afterwards. I already knew of them as a organisation, but the introduction veritably caught my eye.
What is the status of this engagement?
We began working with them in 2014 and the collaboration is ongoing.
Results achieved
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the contact of the engagement?
Our regular limb scan of 2016 revealed very real feedback. A superiority of limbs characterized it as a must-read promulgation. Over the years we have seen upward trends in how our limbs rate and value our magazine. We',ve won separate awards and have had high-minded mentions between 2015 and the present.
How did they accomplish from a project treatment standpoint?
Taryn has been fictitious and we love working with her. Bates is disciplined when it comes to scheduling, care all on track with reminders and interacting plainly. We rarely interactive in-person, instead email is our first tool and then sometimes we use the phone as well.
What did you find most forcible almost them?
They',re an innovative agency and are always looking for new ways to access clients on how to fulfill their needs. Bates operates on the cutting-edge, which is nice owing things change rapidly on the digital front. They always challenge themselves and try to evolve, which I esteem.
Are there any areas they could better?
As an contemplation, and most likely a result of their achievement, Bates has befit extremely busy. I get the perception that they may need to grow resources to keep up with all their client work. Here or there, I may notice it with scheduling, but it hasn’t veritably contacted us owing they have always been good almost managing priorities. I am lucky for them and their growth.
