Web App Dev for Cold Storage Warehouse
Please find below a summary covering project details and feedback. The essential facts are kept as they are, confidential information is amended.
A quick introduction on the buyer’s organisation
We’re a warehousing and logistics organisation, providing refrigerated storage for our clients. I’m a director of development.
What challenge were you trying to address with Innovecs?
We needed qualified technical personnel to help write one of our mission critical systems.
What particular tasks were Innovecs responsible for?
They’re our technology partner. They write a lot of code for us and provide technical expertise in terms of technology upgrades. They also provide business analysis and QA [quality assurance].
They’re writing the complete warehouse management system using Java and Angular. It manages or governs the warehouses that we own.
Was there a dedicated team?
We have a project manager, several team leads, 20 developers, and five QA resources.
How did you come to work with Innovecs?
We found them at a conference in Poland and chose them because they had expertise in Java. We liked the organisation size, which is around 300–400 people, they’re not too small and not too large. Their prices were good and there’s only a seven-hour time difference. Their COO worked in the U.S. in a similar IT sector and he understood all the challenges of developing a system and outsourcing in general. He was able to address those challenges very well.
What is the final result of working with Innovecs?
We began working together in May 2017 and the work is ongoing.
Are there any measureable or evident results?
The code is very good and their technical level is excellent. We have very positive feedback on the organisation in general.
How did Innovecs perform from a project management standpoint?
I have nothing negative to say about the project management, it’s been good. We use Jira to track bugs. We see how much work was delivered and the quality of it. We use Skype and video conferencing and Confluence for document sharing. There are no interaction issues. We have weekly calls that are usually productive.
What is (from your point of view) the key factor to pay attention while dealing with Innovecs?
The quality of the technical resources was impressive. They’re advanced, have good personalities, and are good people.
What aspects of their work would you like to get improved?
The market in Ukraine is very active for this type of field. It takes a while to recruit and bring new resources. They could improve on recruitment in general.
Do you have any advice for potential clients?
Customers would immediately see the difference and improvement compared to outsourcing to India or China.
